How I wish I could see you every day

How I wish I could scale my thoughts, to your heights

How I wish I could watch the sunlight hues, bouncing off you

But alas! I am to blame For building this wall between us,

A wall of smog that takes your beauty away

When it comes to Mother Nature, the more you give back to her, she will return it with double the favours. The favours are in the form of cleaner air, smogless skies and purer water. In our urge for development and modernization, we have overstepped the line of sustainable living and turned greedy. We have only learned to take, but never to give back. The resultant shortsightedness has caused tremendous devastation all over India and the world. The mighty Himalayan ranges are a pride of the nation. The towering snowcapped peaks are a natural wonder, which all humanity should cherish. But sadly, even for those residing at the foothills of these majestic ranges, getting a clear view of these majestic mountains, is a matter of luck. Incessant industrialization, pollution caused by vehicles and de-forestation has caused a wall of pollution to build up. As a result, these mountains have disappeared from our sights. The global pandemic has forced the human race to come back on track, from the derailment that they have brought about in the name of development. The restrictions during the lockdown have reduced pollutions of all kind. And what have we got as a result. After a very long time, a clear view of the Himalayan ranges from the town of Jalpaiguri(Coordinates: 26.52°N 88.73°E) in North Bengal, India, has become a reality. When we have helped Mother Earth, she has given us back much more for us and our next generation. But can this be a lesson in sustainable development and not get overpowered by greed. Only time will tell.
