You were  so integral, a part of us

Hence, probably never got your due

Only today as you lie silent

Do we realise what an important role you played

This gold encased pocket-watch is one of my proudest and most precious family inheritances from the maternal side of my family. More than a century old now, this watch was gifted to my grandfather, while he was serving as a government official in British India, by a British officer, of the revenue department.

          Post the passing away of my grandfather this beautiful watch was all but forgotten, by the family. Technology changed and it changed people as well. Nobody had the time to look back at the past. Thankfully this watch was found by one of my uncles and handed over to me, with the hope that it will never be forgotten again. I hope not, as these splendid sentinels, were such an integral part of us.
