Every smile is not of happiness.

Every tear is not of Joy

Every calm exterior

 Hides in its folds

A trauma  that is seldom seen

This blog has enabled me to connect with numerous people who believed in the power of photography. For some, photography is a passion while for others, it is therapeutic.

Not all of us are mind readers. Today we do not even have the time to look into the eyes of our loved ones. It is sad but true.

One of my close friends and an ardent follower of the blog is currently going through some very tough moments. There were times when we could meet frequently. But the practicalities of life have made such meetings rare nowadays. He is a happy-go-lucky kind of a chap on the exterior, always smiling, always helpful. With a secure job and his own house, he was successful professionally.

Though I was aware of his obstacles, I have always told him they were resolvable and suggested ways. Our lives took different paths. Our interactions continued. His external demeanour never gave away the trauma inside. A few days back, I suddenly noticed the below lines on his social media profile. It read:

The message was a very hard-hitting one. It made me realize something was amiss. It was ironical that how the pain was so effectively was hiding behind the smile. I realized that he had moved out of his house too. This happy-go-lucky guy was crying inside. All I could hope and pray was, this would end for him soon.

When it is said time is a healer, you question it at moments like these. I just prayed. Giving him space, I just hoped I would get back my friend very soon, to his former self. Then out of the blue, I get these photographs from him.

I realized that he had made peace with himself in solitude.
